Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, a Pakistani citizen residing in Canada, has been extradited to the United States to face charges related to an alleged ISIS-linked terror plot, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
Khan is accused of attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State (ISIS) and plotting a mass shooting at a Jewish Center in Brooklyn, New York. According to the FBI, the attack was planned for October 7, 2024—the first anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel.
“Thankfully, the great work of FBI teams and our partners exposed those plans and shut them down,” said Patel. Khan was arrested in Canada on September 4, 2024, and has now been brought to the U.S. to face prosecution.
Patel emphasized the broader implications of the case, calling it a stark reminder of the persistent global threat of terrorism. He also voiced concern over a “disturbing rise in threats against our Jewish communities.”
The FBI Director praised the coordinated efforts of multiple field offices, including New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, and thanked Canadian authorities for their cooperation in the successful extradition.
The incident underscores ongoing international efforts to combat terrorism and safeguard communities from ideologically driven violence.
